We have held various events to celebrate the Star Festival (We call "TANABATA" 七夕 in Japan) in July 2021.
1.The making of July's calendar
It was no doubt that TANABATA to be the theme of July's calendar.
The service users of our Local Activity Support Center HOPPU・SUTEPPU connected the colour papers one by one to make the Milky Way (we call "AMA NO GAWA" 天の川 in Japan).
>> What is TANABATA?
TANABATA is originated from the legend of Orihime (represents the Vega) and Hikoboshi (represents the Altair). Orihime and Hikoboshi were only allowed to reunion on 7 July once-a-year by crossing the Milky Way. And 7 July is the day of TANABATA.
2. TANABATA’s tradition:Nagashi Somen「流しそうめん」
Nagashi Somen (or it is so-called the "Flowing Somen Noodles") was held at our Local Activity Support Center HOPPU・SUTEPPU to celebrate the TANABATA.
Look! The Somen Noodle Flume was DIY by our staffs!
The service users tried to catch the somen noodles flowing from the top to the bottom through the noodle flume by their chopsticks. And they "Got it"!
3.Make a wish on TANABATA
On the day of TANABATA (7 July), the service users of our Group Home [Nii・San's Home] wrote their wishes on strips of paper (we call it ”TANZAKU" 短冊 in Japan) and hung them on the bamboo leaves.
Meanwhile, almost everyone made a wish that "I hope the Coronavirus will end soon".
# May your wishes come true
