Firstly, you should indicate that you are calling for fire or ambulance when dialing 119.  

  • For a fire occurred ≫ What is burning? Where is the fire happening? Are you at a safe place right now? etc. 

  • For calling an ambulance≫ What happened? etc. 

 

And make sure you have reported you name, location and contact number to the call operator.

  • 24-hour, 365-day-a-year operation 

  • Support to major foreign languages such as English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese,  Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese and etc. For other languages, it depends on the interpreter service provided. 

  • Number of Fire Department that have been scheduled to introduce the Multi-lingual 119 emergency service operation by the end of 2020: 641 (out of 726)

"Net119 Emergency Calling System"

(Smartphone application)

(for persons with hearing or speech impairment)

  • This "Net119 Emergency Calling System" is provided to those who have pre-registered with the local Fire Department. The registered users can report to the fire / emergency service through this smartphone application without talking.

You should tell the police when dialing 110:

  1. What has happened? (Traffic accident or a crime, etc. )

  2. When did the it happen? 

  3. Where did it happen?​

  • In case of a traffic accident ≫the car type, escape direction, etc. 

  • When involved a crime ≫ the characteristics of the criminal

 

4. Make sure you have reported you name, location and contact number to the call operator.

The introduction of this interpretation system of 110 call is varied from each province in Japan. Please contact the local Ward Office of the region you live for more details.

For those who have hearing or speech impairment:

"110 Call Apps system" 

  • This smartphone application is developed by National Police Agency which aimed at assisting those who have difficulties in calling 110 by voice. The caller can be able to call the police by text and images through this apps. 

  • Pre-registration is required before the use of this 110 Call apps system. 

  • Please dial 110 directly if you can communicate in voice.
